It was billed as being the test for the 2009 World Championships. La Face was off limits for most of the week, but was finally opened up on Wednesday if my memory is correct.
The level of pistes difficulty here is somewhat understated. Average Val dIsère pistes are closer to difficult level, and difficult to very difficult. Super-advanced skiers will love the famous Olympic run Bellevarde, with a slope of more than 60 degrees, where they will be delivered by a new high-speed cable road just in a few minutes.
Val dIsere is a great base for walking and hiking in the Alpine mountains in the summer. There are a number of routes ranging in difficulty from easy child-friendly walks to enjoy with the whole family, to challenging day-long hikes for the more adventurous.
